- Description: We provide animal control services to the citizens of Porterville. This includes the enforcement of various ordinances (laws) that regulate animals. There is a requirement that pet owners keep their dogs confined to their property, or keep them on a leash. Additionally, the animal ordinance requires all pet owners to have their dogs rabies vaccinated and be licensed with the City of Porterville. The Animal Control Unit handles the issuance of dog licenses and this can be done for a nominal fee.
